Airport queues are getting worse

The vast majority of respondents (70%) to the recent Tourism Update poll said their clients reported longer immigration queues at South African airports due to an inadequate number of staffed counters, highlighting the staffing challenges facing immigration.

Another 21% were unsure and only 9% said their clients had not experienced longer queues due to unstaffed counters.

South Africa’s official star grading system intends to provide travellers with an independent measure of the quality, facilities and services offered by accommodation establishments. 

But, with many travellers now relying on online reviews, social media, booking platforms and AI-powered travel tools when choosing where to stay, we want to know whether official star grading still influences booking decisions.
