Amava River Lodge, located along the Olifants River in South Africa’s Greater Kruger region, has announced its temporary closure following severe flooding on January 15.
Hideaways Africa confirmed that, following aerial inspections and initial damage assessments, several units at the lodge were destroyed and access to the area remains restricted.
The lodge is expected to remain closed until December 31 with the timeline subject to change as recovery efforts and damage assessments progress.
“Hideaways Africa extends its thanks to its on-the-ground teams for their calm and professional response during the evacuation as well as the Balule team and Gerry McDonald for their assistance during this period,” said Hideaways Africa in a statement.
