The Angolan government is set to invest US$73 million in infrastructure at the Okavango Tourism Development Hub aiming to create conditions for future private tourism investment.
According to a presidential order, construction will include roads, energy and telecommunications networks, water and drainage systems, viewpoints and areas for tourist activities and recreation. The Ministry of Tourism will oversee the project.
This is in line with statements by President João Lourenço at the recent Angolan Investment Summit on June 18 when he positioned tourism as a strategic engine of economic diversification and sustainable growth.
“Angola is betting heavily on investing in the creation of the necessary infrastructure to boost the sector’s growth in important areas of the country,” he said.
