Mandela Freedom statue receives more support

THE Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality (greater Port Elizabeth) Eastern Cape, is to partly fund the feasibility study into the proposed Mandela Freedom Square. Late last year a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the city government and Freedom Enterprises, the company which is spearheading the proposed Mandela Freedom Statue. Mayor Nceba Faku said the feasibility study, which began last month, would be conducted over six months. "With such a visionary project, the Nelson Mandela Metro is set to become one of the world's tourism meccas. It is thus deliberate that we have embraced such projects as this one and the Madiba Bay Safari World. We feel that projects such as the Mandela Freedom Statue offer long-term economic growth and job creation realities," said Faku (Miguel de Sousa)
