Meetings Africa opens buyer applications

SA Tourism has opened hosted buyer applications for Meetings Africa 2027 following the opening of exhibitor registration in September. Travel arrangements for hosted buyers will be undertaken after confirmation of participation.

Corne Koch, Chief Convention Bureau Officer at the South African National Convention Bureau, told Tourism Update that exhibitor applications for next year’s Africa’s Travel Indaba (ATI) are scheduled to open this month ahead of hosted buyer applications in November.

She said registration closing dates for both events will be communicated through their respective registration processes.

Koch believes opening exhibitor applications in October and hosted buyer applications in November will enable recruitment to commence well ahead of ATI 2027.

“SA Tourism’s improvement approach is to initiate planning, procurement, sales and buyer recruitment earlier to address the compressed planning cycles experienced during the 2026 editions. This supports improved coordination and provides participants with an earlier opportunity to prepare for the event.”

Next year’s Meetings Africa will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg from February 22-24 and ATI at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban from May 10-13.
