Airlink has applied to the Air Services Licensing Council for traffic rights to operate between Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport and Doha’s Hamad International Airport. The application was submitted on June 6.
According to the airline, it applied for these rights to change its unilateral codeshare with Qatar Airways to a bilateral codeshare, allowing both carriers to place their flight codes on each other’s services.
Additionally, the airline applied for rights to operate the following routes (all seven weekly frequencies):
- Johannesburg-Port Louis, Mauritius
- Cape Town-Lagos, Nigeria
- Cape Town-Accra, Ghana
- Johannesburg-Zanzibar, Tanzania
Airlink confirmed that these applications are intended to support its future network expansion plans.
