A new culinary experience, centred on game meat and traditional fire cooking, has launched in Franschhoek with a R1.5 million (US$91 000) investment from the Western Cape government.
Developed in partnership with South African chef Reuben Riffel, the Flame and Game project aims to diversify Franschhoek’s food and wine offering.
The venture is expected to create 10 jobs while retaining 35 existing positions with ingredients and other products sourced from local farmers, wine farms and suppliers. Annual visitor numbers are projected to double from approximately 20 000 to 40 000 following the launch of the enhanced offering.
