SAA is set launch its twice-weekly flights to the oil-producing West African state of Gabon, with the first flight to Libreville scheduled to depart Johannesburg on Wednesday, September 19.
An Airbus A319 will be used on the route.
SA086 will depart Johannesburg at 17h00 and arrive in Libreville at 21h05, Wednesdays and Saturdays. SA087 will depart Libreville at 09h20 and arrive in Johannesburg at 15h25, Thursdays and Sundays.
“Africa is one of our greatest strengths with over 16 destinations served directly by us. We are paying particular attention to the continent in order to bring the airline back into profitability,” says Rushj Lehutso, SAA gm commercial.
SAA says it is offering special fares to celebrate the launch of the route – for purchase and travel up until November 30, but doesn’t quantify them.
