Gautrain’s service between Sandton and OR Thambo International Airport now operates from earlier in the morning till later in the evenings, the company announced.
The first trains now leave Sandton at 04h50 and 05h10 and the last trains from ORTIA will leave at 20h46 and 21h04.
Gautrain CEO, Jack van der Merwe explained that these early and late trains do not stop at stations between the airport and Sandton.
“This means that if passengers want to make use of the early or late service, they have to use Sandton station as their departure point and not any other station on the Gautrain route,” he said.
The Sandton and ORTIA stations will open and close 15 minutes before the first and last trains leave each day.
Van der Merwe said the Gautrain airport service continues to exhibit positive growth since it started operations on June 8, 2010. Currently, this service carries an average of 5 500 passengers per day.
