ICCA launches Africa regional office in SA

Having a dedicated International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) regional office in Africa means the association’s African members can now take full advantage of ICCA’s extensive membership database and leverage off these contacts to advance association meetings on the continent, says Rashid Toefy, Chairperson, ICCA African Chapter.

The new office, opened on September 1, is based in SA. According to Arnaldo Nardone, President, ICCA, this isn’t simply a move to deliver better services to existing African members, but a recognition that the international association meetings market is continuing to evolve. “It’s in the growth of regional meetings that we anticipate some of the most dramatic future developments.”

Toefy says an African society of association executives will provide a platform to create awareness of the continent’s world-class meetings infrastructure and technology, and of how hosting an association conference in Africa can advance the event’s educational aspect. “A regional office will allow us to proactively attract more meetings and events to the continent.”
