Quantum Travels actively promotes South Africa in the Indian market. I have no idea if the price wars will affect the rates for international tourists, but irrespective, I take the liberty to share my thoughts with you.
Should the hoteliers decided to get into the price wars, it will only make matters worse. We have seen that in the other markets mainly in Australia and the Far East. The travel agents overseas will not pay any attention to a market that encourages price wars and diluted revenues and will focus on other markets to promote tourism.
Not only will the inbound tour operators in South Africa lose revenue, so will the hoteliers and other allied suppliers,
Hoteliers will also have to contend with more work to deal directly with the end user which will only increase their operational costs. This is evident from the airline industry.
