Monday smile: Married 100 times around the world

These days getting married once can be a mission. Imagine getting married a hundred times!

This is exactly what Cheetah and Rhiann Platt have done. Cheetah, an acrobat and aerialist, met Rhiann, a dancer, at a training centre where she asked Cheetah to try a lift with her. It was love at first lift.

After Cheetah proposed to Rhiann, the couple started planning their dream wedding. Soon they realised that it was all too stressful. So they redefined their definition of marriage. As avid travellers, they decided that they would rather travel than spend their money on an expensive wedding. And hey, why not get married at the same time.

Since then, the couple has been married 100 times in different places all over the world – Kyoto, Greece, Las Vegas, Australia, the Maldives and Iceland to name a few. And they have managed to do so on a budget. Every year they take time off to get married and take mid-week flights. They are not to too concerned about where they go, they just go.

The couple even use the same wedding outfits. They each spent $100 (R1 300) on their outfits’ and that works out to $1 (R30) a use!

Maybe marriage isn’t so bad after all…
