Timeless Africa Safaris has announced the appointment of Robin Mcleod as Operations and Product Manager.
Mcleod started his career in the travel industry 20 years ago when he moved to Cape Town from Durban. He has experience in many aspects of the DMC business on a management level, working with clients and suppliers in the luxury sector throughout Southern and East Africa, as well as teambuilding, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, and sales and marketing.
Travelstart has appointed Jerome Touze as Chief Marketing Officer based in Cape Town.
Touze left his role as COO of WAYN.com, part of the Lastminute.com Group in March.
“Touze is an online travel pioneer,” said Stephan Ekbergh, Founder and CEO of Travelstart. “We are making travel simpler for business and leisure travellers in Africa, and he brings an awesome mix of creativity and entrepreneurial flair to the mission.”
Touze co-founded travel social networking site WAYN.com, where he built the world’s largest travel and lifestyle-focused social networking community with over 25 million users. Prior to this, he was a senior consultant at Accenture in London where he worked in the communications and high-tech division for clients such as Microsoft and BT.
Touze was born in France, and is a graduate of the Kedge Business School and the University of Westminster.
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has appointed a number of WTTC Ambassadors, including Kathleen Matthews, an award-winning journalist, global hotel company executive and tourism advocate; Jean-Claude Baumgarten, former President and CEO of WTTC; Gerald Lawless, former CEO of Jumeriah and immediate Past Chairman of WTTC; Dr Michael Frenzel, former CEO of TUI and former WTTC Chairman; Dr. Adolfo Favieres; and Christopher Rodrigues CBE, Chairman of the British Council.
The Ambassador programme identifies global travel industry leaders with proven track records of success in key markets to work alongside WTTC, bringing significant experience from careers in the travel and tourism industry. Ambassadors are selected by Christopher J. Nassetta, Chairman of WTTC and President and CEO of Hilton, and Gloria Guevara, WTTC President and CEO.
