Protea Hotel Ranch Resort in Polokwane has unveiled a new soccer pitch for professional teams.
Tom Shearer, owner of the Protea Hotel Ranch Resort, says the pitch was built as a result of the lack of quality training facilities in Limpopo province. Since the opening of the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in 2010 many prominent PSL soccer teams have been guests at the resort ahead of their matches.
“Professional teams who book with us won’t have to worry about having to travel to train any more because they can simply use our field,” said Danny Bryer, Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue for the Protea Hospitality Group.
Bryer said Super Rugby teams were also showing interest in the resort’s training facilities. “We are planning to add two or more pitches in the future, because we want to eventually host football and rugby tournaments at the resort.”
The resort has a landing strip, conferencing and event facilities, a tennis court, four swimming pools, a fitness centre, a 12-hole golf course and a golf academy.
