A MEMORANDUM of Agreement designed to encourage stakeholders to work together to establish a Metsweding regional tourism organisation, was signed by all key role players within the Metsweding District Municipality Region and Gauteng tourism stakeholders, at the Mbokoto Conference Centre.
The agreement states that both Metsweding District Municipality and the local municipalities of Kungwini and Nokeng Tsa Taemane must provide the enabling environment and primary infrastructure for tourism at municipal level, and implement national and provincial policy and legislation in accordance with the Gauteng Tourism Institutional Framework as outlined by Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA).
The signatories to the agreement are the provincial government (Gauteng Tourism Authority and Blue IQ), the local government (Metsweding District Municipality, Kungwini Local Municipality, Nokeng Tsa Taemane Local Municipality), the tourism private sector representatives from Cullinan Tourism Associations, Dinokeng Land Owners Association, Roodeplaat Tourism Association, Kungwini Tourism Association, Bronberg Tourism Association and the Communities of Nokeng and Kungwini.
"The framework provides a platform for all role players to debate and share their objectives, vision, priorities and experiences for broader regional tourism development,” says Cawe Mahlati of Gauteng Tourism Authority.
