Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel in Tanzania has recently undergone extensive refurbishment and Serena Mountain Lodge in Kenya has a new children’s club.
The refurbishments at Dar es Salaam Serena include a new lobby and coffee shop. The Kibo bar and terrace has reopened after a revamp. Jahazi restaurant was also included in the refurbishment, as well as the Serengeti restaurant, which now holds theme nights every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and a family brunch on Sundays. The shopping arcade was also refurbished and the Maisha gym and spa were expanded to create more work-out room, and new work-out equipment and machines have also been acquired.
Serena Mountain Lodge now has a new Serena Kids’ Club, to support Serena’s new child policy at both Serena Mountain Lodge and Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp – also in Kenya – to allow children from the age of three and above.
The kids’ club is a fully supervised hangout space, accommodating up to ten children, where they can play, learn, interact and explore with various crafts and games.
Activities include mini golf, mini basketball, magnetic darts, puzzles, toys, chalkboards, a hip hop mixer and a television with DVD.
Décor at the club is ‘safari adventure meets tree house’, with a large window so children can look out at the wildlife.
Serena Mountain Lodge has also been given some soft refurbishments, with fresh varnish, new comfortable seating in the restaurant, bar lounge, reception area and roof terrace.
