Dakar strikes – SAA’s US flights affected

SAA will be operating three of its four US flights via Ilha do Sal, Cape Verde between February 9 and 13, instead of via Dakar. This is due to a planned strike by airport workers in Dakar. SA204 out of New York today (February 9) will operate via Ilha do Sal and SA203 from Johannesburg will operate to Dakar with a technical stop in Ilha do Sal. SA203 to New York, SA207 to Washington and SA204 from New York will be affected by the re-routing but SAA said the changes would not create delays. SAA said it was contacting all passengers scheduled to fly to or from Dakar during the next five days to inform them of the strike action. The airline said that if the strike ended before Tuesday, it would try to go back to normal operations, via Dakar, as quickly as possible. Lucy Siebert (lucys@nowmedia.co.za)
