A NEW lodge, Rio Azul, has opened North of Vilanculos. The lodge sits on the banks of the Govuro River and offers access to the deep waters of the river mouth. The lodge offers this as an advantage for the traveller interested in big game fishing, as these fish move freely through the estuary.
The lodge has six thatched rooms with en-suite bathrooms. There is also a three-bedroom villa. All rooms overlook the estaury with wooden decks. Rooms are also equipped with mosquito nets, a digital safe and private boat.
The lodge also has a public lounge area with dining room, bar and plunge pool.there is a small amenities shop and electricity is supplied by a generator. The lodge offers full board with the local seafood as the focus for dinner.
Activities at the lodge include: deep sea fishing, shore fishing, bird watching, beach walks, kayaking, sundowner cruises, snorkelling and island trips.
