New GM at Pullman Cape Town

Pullman Cape Town has appointed Thuthukile Moloto as its new GM. Moloto has more than 15 years of hospitality experience across Africa and the Middle East, including senior roles launching or rebranding properties under major international brands such as Marriott International and Protea Hotels. She has managed diverse teams and overseen operations at flagship city hotels, lifestyle destinations and large-scale resort projects.

As GM, Moloto is committed to positioning Pullman Cape Town as the definitive destination for leisure and business travellers. “My time working abroad changed my understanding of what true hospitality means,” said Moloto. “If we take that level of detail-driven care and pair it with South Africa’s trademark warmth, especially here in Cape Town, we’ll be unstoppable,” she said.

New Chairman for UN Tourism body

Rodney Sikumba, Zambia’s Minister of Tourism, has been elected to chair the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa in 2025-2027. With an MBA qualification, he has served as a member of Zambia’s United Party for National Development since 2021. Sikumba also received training in diplomatic practice protocol and public relations at the Zambia Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies.

The UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa has appointed Márcio de Jesus Lopes Daniel, Angola’s Minister of Hospitality and Tourism, as its Vice-Chairperson.

Newmark appoints new directors

New Sales Director

Gareth Venner, Newmark Director of Sales. 

Gareth Venner has been appointed Director of Sales for Newmark Hotels & Reserves. Venner brings over 20 years of experience in sales, operations and business development across the hospitality sector. This includes senior roles at leading brands such as Accor, Tourvest and Marriott.

New Director of Business Systems and Group Operations

Reinhard Korf, Newmark Director of Business Systems and Group Operations.

Reinard Korf has been appointed Director of Business Systems and Group Operations for Newmark Hotels & Reserves. He will lead operational performance including systems design and infrastructure development across the group. Korf is a seasoned international hotelier with a range of experience across Africa, Europe, the Indian Ocean and Australasia. In this new role, Korf will directly oversee Newmark’s Africa-based properties in Uganda and Nigeria.

New Director of Pre-Opening and Portfolio Development

Nemark’s former Group Director of Operations, Michael Liffmann,has been appointed Director of Pre-Openings and Portfolio Development. In this role, Liffmann will manage and lead pre-opening strategies for all new properties alongside the Chief Growth Officer and the New Business Development Team. Liffmann will also oversee operational delivery of several key properties across the portfolio, including those in Mauritius and Zanzibar as well as the V&A Waterfront cluster, The Rockefeller and The Winchester Boutique Hotel in Cape Town and the group’s safari lodges in South Africa.

Two new regional managers

Theunie Marias, GM at Onyx Hotel.

Theunie Marais has been appointed GM of the Onyx Hotel in Cape Town. Marais is a hospitality veteran with experience at One&Only, Four Seasons and the Saxon.

Andrew Rosettenstein, the new GM at Future Found Sanctuary, has experience in luxury hotels and game lodges, including tenures at the Cape Grace, Le Quartier Français, Royal Malewane and Singita.
