Peter Dros has been appointed new Head of Sales and Marketing at Fancourt. Based in Johannesburg, Dros reports to Fancourt CEO, Georgie Davidson, and is tasked with managing and growing business for Fancourt on a national and international basis, including promoting tourism to the Garden Route region.
He will head up a new national team comprising a Business Development Manager, a Key Accounts Manager and two Sales Executives, a Marketing Co-ordinator and a Marketing Assistant.
Dros previously worked at MalaMala, Abercrombie & Kent and, most recently, at Tourvest’s Welcome Tourism Services.
SATIB Insurance Brokers has appointed new Business Development Manager in East Africa, Margie Gitau. She has experience in tour operations, provision of travel management solutions, client relations, project management, business development and sales and marketing.
Gitau has a Professional Post-graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. She has also been involved in marketing and promoting East Africa as a preferred tourist destination in the private sector in association with the Kenya Tourism Board.
Southern Sun Hyde Park Sandton has appointed new Deputy GM, Quintin Mulwitsky. Mulwitsky holds a diploma in Hospitality Management from the International Hotel School and completed a Management Development Programme in Executive Development from the University of Stellenbosch.
Joel Stols has been appointed Deputy GM at Tsogo Sun’s Sunsquare Montecasino hotel. Stols studied Hospitality Management at the Central University of Technology in the Free State.
Central African Wilderness Safaris has appointed Nick and Rosie Cornell as new Managers of Mvuu Logde, Malawi. Rosie previously worked in the UK before working for The Ant Collection in South Africa. Nick attended the Eco-Training Professional Field Guide Course before working at The Ant Collection.
Bibek Das has joined Marasa Africa as Executive Chef. Bibek has over 14 years’ culinary experience in Europe and Asia. He has worked with Oberoi Hotels, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Hilton Hotels in the UK and InterContinental Hotels Group.
Susan Huxter has sold Le Quartier Français in Franschhoek to Analjit Singh but retains the remainder of the properties – Le Quartier Français Bread & Wine Vineyard Restaurant, The Miss Molly Charcuterie Bar and two Waterfront apartments, which she will continue to manage.
Huxter said: "It has been an exciting and rewarding journey and it is thanks to my extraordinary team – the LQF family – who have really created this piece of heaven. I will still be in Franschhoek and hope to see you over a lazy lunch at Bread & Wine Vineyard Restaurant.”
