People on the move: Resort Manager appointed for One&Only Nyungwe House

Jacques Le Roux has been appointed Resort Manager of One&Only Nyungwe House in Rwanda.

One&Only has appointed Jacques Le Roux as Resort Manager at One&Only Nyungwe House in Rwanda.

Located in a working tea plantation in Gisakura, south-west Rwanda, on the edge of the Nyungwe Forest, the resort started welcoming guests on October 1.

Le Roux will be responsible for the overall operation of One&Only Nyungwe House and will support the strategic development of the brand’s resorts in Rwanda.

He has over ten years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, having held positions such as GM, Resident Manager and Camp Manager in various African lodges, camps and hotels.

Prior to joining One&Only, Le Roux was GM at Eden Belo Monte, a boutique hotel in São Tomé and Príncipe, where he led over 100 team members and was in charge of all operations, including marketing, sales and reservations. Le Roux has also worked in South Africa, Bermuda, the UK, Europe and Botswana.

He grew up just outside of Cape Town, and after leaving school moved to the UK where he joined the Nike Hotel Group and studied hospitality management. Upon completion of his studies, Le Roux joined one of their hotels as Conferencing and Banqueting Manager. Following this he moved to Bermuda where he worked on cruise ships for a number of years before moving back to South Africa, where he worked in lodges around the Kruger National Park.

SkySafari by Elewana has appointed Mia Lawson as GM with immediate effect.

Lawson has a wealth of experience, initially as a Second Lieutenant in the Swedish Air Force with a degree in radar operation and radar systems. In addition, Lawson also has experience as a tour operator, having run her own company in Tanzania for several years.

Fair Trade Tourism (FTT) recently partnered with Travelife, the world’s largest sustainability certification scheme for tour operators, and as part of the initiative, Melissa Foley from All About Africa, will be helping grow joint FTT and Travelife membership.
