Promising response for virtual tradeshow

Newly launched virtual tradeshow, OurAfrica.Travel2020 has received a significant response from industry.

“We have been overwhelmed by the response from exhibitors and buyers to participate in this affordable opportunity to reignite and reunite Africa with the world,” said platform Co-founder and Director of Atmosphere Marketing, Storm Napier.

OurAfrica.Travel2020 was launched to fill the void left by the cancellation of all African travel trade shows due to the pandemic. The virtual show aims to connect African suppliers with inbound operators and global buyers via pre-scheduled virtual meetings.

According to Napier, companies such as Wilderness Safaris, Singita, Red Carnation Hotels, Onguma and Chiwani Safari Camps were among the first supporters of the event. “We now have over 150 exhibitors registered from countries across Africa” she said.

Buyers who have already signed up for the event include, Private Safaris Switzerland, Swain Destinations, Swagman, FTI Touristik, Lusso and The Africa Adventure Company.

Alison Hunt, Owner, and Rudi Wagenaar, Sales and Marketing Manager, of Inspirational Places who co-founded the event with Napier, have extended the team to include four other industry experts, to accommodate the response the event has received.

The virtual event will take place from August 11-29 and is split into three geographic regions to accommodate different time zones. August 15, 22 and 29 will be ‘global Saturdays’, or open days, to allow the overflow of appointments that could not be accommodated within the exhibition schedule.

An online diary opens on August 1, from when attendees can begin scheduling meetings. Based on interaction within the system, buyers gain points that allow them to win ‘Golden Ticket’ experiences in Africa.
