SATSA launches bracelet fundraising campaign

The SATSA Tourism Business Incubator, in partnership with Sigma International, has launched a new campaign to increase funding for its incubator programme, which provides six to 12 months of fully funded comprehensive business development support.

Dubbed “Doing It For Tourism”, the campaign will see proceeds from handmade beaded South African flag bracelets, crafted by local artisans, go into funding additional black-owned tourism SMMEs in the incubator programme.

There are two primary channels for the initiative’s participation:

  1. Larger tourism businesses can purchase bracelets in bulk as staff recognition gifts or guest amenities.
  2. Hospitality establishments can display the bracelets at reception areas for customers to purchase.

“These beautiful bracelets represent South African pride but they’re also a direct investment into the future of our tourism industry,” said SATSA CEO David Frost. “For just R100 (US$5.81), anyone can contribute to creating sustainable tourism businesses and jobs.”

The incubator programme, managed by Sigma International and in its fourth year, has provided support for over 100 black-owned tourism SMMEs.

“The bracelet campaign makes supporting transformation accessible to everyone,” explained Akash Singh, Director of Sigma International. “Whether you’re a major hotel group or an individual traveller, you can directly contribute to building a more inclusive tourism sector.”
