Seychelles develops cruise strategy

The Seychelles Tourism Department, in partnership with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), has commenced work on the country’s first dedicated Cruise Tourism Strategy following the earlier completion of The Cruise Sector in Seychelles: A Cost-Benefit Analysis (2026-2033).

As part of a scoping mission to inform the strategy’s formulation, the UNECA team will conduct stakeholder consultations across the country.

The strategy aims to promote sustainable growth, strengthen sector management and align Seychelles with international best practices – ensuring balanced economic, social and environmental benefits.

According to Seychelles Tourism, cruise tourism is one of the three pillars of the industry alongside land-based and yachting tourism, and plays a key role in diversifying the destination’s offerings.
