KNYSNA’S only forest elephant has made a special appearance just before the holiday season, on November 26.
Hylton Herd from Scientific Services, SANParks Garden Route rushed to the Diepwalle Forest, near the Big Tree and took these pictures. Knysna Tourism has said that these pictures are “the best on file to date”.
Herd has been closely monitoring elephant sightings over the last few years, and has once again declared that it is the same elephant that has been seen before.
Herd compared the recent pictures to pictures taken in previous years and made his determination giving consideration to markings on ears, etc.
