Nicky Dance of Sense of Africa Botswana has organised for 10 women to attempt a 90km or 56km walk across the Makgadikgadi salt pans to raise awareness for breast cancer in Botswana, on August 18.
The volunteer walkers and crew are all affiliated to the Botswana tourism industry in one way or another.
The aim of the walk will be to increase and potentially double the BWP 160 000 000 (R218 778 374.69) that was raised last year. All funds will be going to Journey of Hope, a non-profit organisation
Sense of Africa are the Silver Ribbon sponsors of the Moon Walk this year. African Horseback Safaris, Kalahari Kanvas, Kavango Engineering, Machaba Safaris, Major Blue Air, MIDAS, Ngamiland Adventure Safaris, Safari Destinations, Time Travel and Wilderness Safaris have all been named as Pink Ribbon sponsors.
The Sense of Africa Facebook and Twitter pages will provide updates on the girl’s training progress and the day of the walk itself. Alternatively follow ‘The Maun Moon Walkers’ pages and blog.
