SATSA has condemned the death of Franz Richter, owner of Aloe Ridge Lodge and Heia Safari Ranch in Swartkops, Mogale City.
Richter was murdered in an armed robbery near to his property yesterday morning.
His murder follows a series of serious crimes that have recently affected the tourism industry. The owners of the Wartburger Hof Hotel were murdered earlier this month and a tourist was murdered in Pennington just before the Fifa preliminary draw. Two Fifa delegates were also robbed over the past weekend.
The SABC has reported that three men suspected of murdering Richter have been arrested.
SATSA ceo, Micheal Tatalias said that government and the relevant authorities need to take action soon. “If crime is not stopped, and soon, our tourism industry may not be around to host the visitors that will come for 2010.”
