DISCOP Africa makes Gauteng its permanent home

Gauteng is now the permanent home of DISCOP Africa, according to an announcement by Gauteng Tourism.

The announcement was made during the seventh DISCOP Africa gathering which took place at the Sandton Convention Centre from October 31-November 2.

DISCOP Africa is a pan-African industry gathering that focuses exclusively on the production and distribution of multiscreen television content. The annual three-day gathering combines a market, a co-production forum and a training programme offering opportunities to buy and sell television content, initiate partnerships, access valuable information, connect with key players and learn from experts.

“We welcome the opportunity to host such a vital business forum. As a province, Gauteng has an excellent track record of organising major international events, we have world-class facilities and to support the business tourism drive, we are setting up our Convention and Events Bureau, the province’s big events and conferencing bidding machinery, to make sure we continue offering the best service in this sector,” says Nonnie Kubeka, Head of Gauteng Convention and Events Bureau at Gauteng Tourism.

Over 1000 people attend the event, including African and international film, animation, documentary and educational programming sellers. Among these sellers are BBC Worldwide, MGM Networks, Al Jazeera, Walt Disney and the SABC.

“Making Gauteng the host province for DISCOP Africa was a strategic decision as the region provides sophisticated, world-class accommodation, transport and technology,” said Patrick Jucaud-Zuchowicki, Chairperson of DISCOP Africa.
