Hostelling International (HI) recently launched an iPhone app that allows users to search and book HI hostels worldwide. Users can also view customer ratings and reviews and find hostels nearby from location-based search. The app further offers a secure booking process as well as maps and directions.
The database contains over 4 000 hostels in over 90 countries, 40 of them in South Africa. According to HI, all the hostels meet assured standards that guarantee a range of good-quality safe accommodation in friendly surroundings at affordable prices.
The app is available and free for download (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/hi-hostels/id491338196?mt=8). An Android version of the HI hostels app is in development.
