Klipspringers outwit Wild dogs

Guests at MalaMala Game Reserve, which borders the Kruger National Park and is renowned for its very high numbers of predators, were recently treated to a wildlife sighting involving klipspringers and a pack of African Wild dogs.

Rangers Steff McWilliam and Michael Botes found a pack of 21 dogs that had cornered a family of klipspringers on a rock face. Using their instinct and experience, the klipspringers hastily moved to the outer edge of the rock face, balancing on their tiny pointed hooves.

The hungry dogs relentlessly attempted to reach the klipspringers from below and above but the klipspringers did not panic and eventually outwitted the predators. The dogs finally gave up and moved off in search of an alternative meal elsewhere. A happy ending for the wily and patient klipspringers.
