A strategic agreement has been signed between South Africa-based Mantis Group and international hotel group, AccorHotels.
Mantis Group is a collection of award-winning, privately owned, managed and branded five-star properties and lodges across all seven continents. AccorHotels is a world-leading travel-and-lifestyle group that offers unique experiences in more than 4 000 hotels and resorts and over 2 500 private residences around the globe.
The agreement, which was signed yesterday, April 5, brings the two global brands together. “There are numerous synergies between the two groups – both operate global hospitality networks offering rare and unique experiences, and both have a focus on conservation. This partnership will strengthen the Mantis offering, as well as ensuring future growth and resilience in an ever-evolving and increasingly competitive market,” said Mantis Founder and Chairman, Adrian Gardiner, at the press conference announcing the partnership.
The agreement allows Mantis to utilise AccorHotels’ distribution channels and worldwide reach to further develop the Group’s hospitality concepts and sustainability projects. In return, AccorHotels will have access to an indigenous African brand with a strong heritage, ecological focus and noteworthy credentials in the hospitality space. This is aimed at accelerating “Accor Hotels’ expansion across the Middle East and Africa, adding to its existing network of over 200 properties with more than 150 hotels in the pipeline across the region,” says Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of AccorHotels Middle East and Africa, Olivier Granet.
Included in the announcement was a briefing on The Community Conservation Fund Africa – a foundation to be established by the Mantis-AccorHotels partnership, in collaboration with renowned international conservation organisations, The Wilderness Foundation Global, Tusk Trust and African Parks. Initial funding of $600 000 (€490 900) will be sponsored by Mantis and AccorHotels, and the official launch of the fund will take place next month.A strategic agreement has been signed between South Africa-based Mantis Group and international hotel group, AccorHotels.
