People on the Move: New chairman for SI

Sun International has appointed Sam Sithole as its new Non-Executive Chairman. He replaces Jabu Mabuza who recently died suddenly and tragically from COVID.

Sithole has been a member of the Sun International board since 2018 and is the CEO and Co-founder of Value Capital Partners, which has a substantial shareholding in the Sun International group. Sithole is also a director of several JSE-listed companies, including technology giant Altron, workplace solutions provider Adcorp, and Metair Investments.

Sun International CEO Anthony Leeming said: “Sam Sithole’s history with the company has given him valuable knowledge and insight, and his more than 20 years of experience in finance and investment will serve us well.”

New GM for Mauritius property

Pascal Bertrand has been appointed new General Manager of Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas.

Bringing over 35 years of luxury hospitality experience to his new position, Bertrand joins the Mauritius property, which opened in late 2019.

French national Bertrand got a taste for the hotelier life when he started his career in Food & Beverage, as Sous-Chef for Eleven Maple Street Restaurant in Florida. He continued his career in F&B by joining The Ritz Carlton in Atlanta as Assistant Banqueting Manager, followed by The Ritz Carlton Cancun and The Ritz Carlton in Florida.

With qualifications in Hotel Asset Management and Real Estate from Cornell University, Bertrand progressed through the ranks of hotel operations before taking his first General Manager position at the Legends Hotel Mauritius, in 2010.
