People on the Move: New Head of Leisure Tourism for Wesgro

Julia Louw joins Wesgro – the official Tourism, Trade, Investment and Film Agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape – today (June 1) as Head of Leisure Tourism for the DMO unit.

Louw will lead the team by developing and implementing strategic plans, focusing on trade marketing support and facilitation as well as driving collaboration between the public and private sectors.

She has strong commercial and business acumen, with ten years as General Manager of Kobo Safaris under her belt, where she played an integral role in expanding the team, increasing revenue significantly and ensuring reach into strategic source markets. She also served on the SATSA National Board in her capacity as SATSA Western Cape Committee Chair.

“I am incredibly honoured to be joining this winning team and ready for the immense task that lies ahead of us. As the tourism family, we will need to work together to help pave the road to recovery, and I look forward to facilitating this growth. I am truly passionate about our inspiring province and place great emphasis on working hand in hand with stakeholders in order to achieve our shared vision,” said Louw.

Monika Iuel, CMO of Wesgro, said: “Julia is joining at a crucial time for the province. She comes with a wealth of experience in engaging stakeholders effectively, bringing valuable industry know-how to a very passionate team within the agency. Her well-developed international connectivity will only help to take our exceptional tourism offering to the world.”
