Protea Hotels takes over the Hilton Hotel

Protea Hotels has acquired the management contract for The Hilton Hotel. Established in 1936, the hotel now has all the modern amenities to satisfy the needs of both business and leisure travellers.

“Acquiring this hotel has great strategic value for Protea Hotels as the Hilton area is increasingly popular for leisure, business and government travellers,” said Danny Bryer, Group Sales, Marketing and Revenue Director, Protea Hotels. “It is driven by the demand for accommodation in the Pietermaritzburg area, which is home to the KwaZulu Natal provincial government.”

The property is ideal for conferencing and banquets and allows for a variety of functions, catering for up to 250 delegates with many unique breakaway room facilities.

Protea Hotel Hilton has 38 rooms and plans are under way for expanding the property. This is the second Protea Hotel property in KwaZulu Natal acquired in 2009, the other being Protea Hotel Umhlanga Ridge, which opened in July.
