Camp Jabulani and its sister property, the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC), has implemented extensive recycling practices in line with the centre’s future sustainability and eco-friendly policies to ensure the wellbeing of the environment and its human and animal inhabitants.
Waste will be separated with paper, glass, tins and plastic being recycled on a continual basis. “Since we’ve implemented this initiative, we’ve not only reduced pollution and its widespread effects but we’ve also saved substantially,” said Camp Jabulani MD Adine Roode. “We hope to transfer this knowledge to our younger generations through our educational programmes, the Cheetah Conservation Programme and the Pioneer for Change Programme.”
This recycling initiative will run alongside other eco-friendly initiatives at the centre, also in association with Camp Jabulani, which will include the ‘Weeping-Boer-Bean Tree’ and the ‘Sharing is Caring’ projects which involve elephant dung being recycled and sold.
