Should SA introduce a 5-star deluxe category?

The TGCSA recently announced that it was planning to revamp its current grading system, with one of the potential new developments the introduction of a five-star deluxe category.


TGCSA Marketing and Communications Manager, Thekiso Rakolojane, says the five-star deluxe category was a suggestion offered by the associations consulted during the first phase of the grading review process. “All stakeholders will have an opportunity to provide comment on this suggestion, whether in favour or not, when the survey is opened to all stakeholders on November 30. It is by no means a final resolution from the TGCSA.”


Danny Bryer, Protea Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue, says there could be some pitfalls when introducing an additional category. “The international norm is a one- to five-star grading system and since we advocate adherence to international standards, retaining the one- to five-star classification makes sense in that context.”
