Additional frequencies and new schedules for Air Namibia

AIR Namibia has announced the introduction of several additional frequencies and new schedules.

The airline’s frequencies between Windhoek and Johannesburg, as well as between Windhoek and Cape Town, will increase from two flights a day to three. Passengers travelling between Johannesburg and Walvis Bay will continue to enjoy the six flights per week service, via Windhoek. The transit time at Windhoek to Walvis Bay is one hour. The Cape Town to Walvis Bay service will remain direct.

Air Namibia will also introduce a new daily, direct service between Windhoek and Lusaka using an Embraer ERJ 135. The new service will replace the current operation from Windhoek to Lusaka via Johannesburg. The schedule, according to the airline, is set to offer easy and seamless connectivity to points beyond Windhoek, which include Cape Town, Frankfurt, Johannesburg and Accra.

In addition, the airline will operate an increased frequency on the Accra route with the introduction of a new direct service between Windhoek and Accra, now be offering six times a week. The schedule design allows convenient connections to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Lusaka and Luanda. With the recently concluded agreement with Delta  Air Lines, Air Namibia flights to Accra will connect to Delta’s departures to Atlanta and New York.

On the domestic market, the airline will increase the number of flights on its Windhoek to Rundu and KatimaMulilo routes, from three flights per week to six flights per week. The departure time from Windhoek will now be 09h50 and not 07h00.

The Luderitz-Oranjemund air service will be re-introduced, with four flights per week. These flights will be operated from Hosea Kutako International airport, with connections to flights to and from Cape Town, Johannesburg and Frankfurt. The service will offer a night-stop in Windhoek for passengers travelling between Luderitz and Walvis Bay.

Also, beginning March 2012, Air Namibia will increase its current six-weekly flights between Windhoek and Frankfurt to daily flights. This service offers convenient connections from Cape Town, Johannesburg, Luanda, Lusaka, Victoria Falls and Maun.

In September, two new generation A319-100s will enter the airline’s fleet and will be operated on main routes, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Luanda and Accra. These will replace the current wet leased aircraft.
