FedAir bolsters flood relief efforts

Air charter and shuttle airline FedAir has embarked on various measures to support flood-affected lodges, agents and guests in the Greater Kruger region, including the repositioning of additional aircraft from Johannesburg and increased capacity to the Madikwe and Marataba game reserves.

In a press statement on January 19, FedAir said it has allocated additional aircraft to ensure continued connectivity into the northern parts of the region.

“This will allow us to increase capacity and respond more swiftly to last-minute travel requirements and support guests who still need reliable air access during this challenging time.”

Numerous lodge closures and damage to roads and access points in reserves has also increased demand for alternative routing into Madikwe in the North West and Marataba in western Limpopo.

“To support this shift, we have increased inventory and aircraft availability on these routes to accommodate any additional requests. Booking for this will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.”

FedAir will additionally introduce reduced rates for Lowveld services ahead of their planned launch date of May 18. The special rates will apply to all last-minute bookings for travel until February 2 and will be reviewed after one week to assess a possible extension.

“With aircraft strategically positioned across key regions, our charter team also remains on standby to assist with last-minute or distressed flight requests at competitive rates, particularly where we can support urgent or time-sensitive movements.

“As always, FedAir remains committed to supporting our partners and the wider safari industry – especially in times of need.”
