Hemingways Hospitality has acquired Richard’s River Camp in Kenya’s Mara North Conservancy, expanding its footprint in the Maasai Mara.
The 18-bed luxury safari camp became the group’s latest property following its recent acquisition of Rwanda’s Heaven Holdings, which includes The Retreat, Heaven Restaurant and Fusion in Kigali.
Ross Evans, CEO of Hemingways Hospitality Group, said the acquisition honours the conservation legacy of camp founders Richard Roberts and Liz Fusco. “Richard and Liz have been pioneers of wildlife conservation in the Mara, instrumental in the creation of community conservancies such as Mara North as well as founding partners of vital conservation initiatives such as Mara Elephant Project,” said Evans.
Hemingways is already a tourism partner in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. The company will now work with over 1 000 Masai community landowners and other operators in Mara North, which covers more than 73 000 acres.
