Minor launches Saving the Wild wine collection

Minor Hotels has partnered with conservation organisation Saving the Wild to launch a wine collection aimed at supporting wildlife conservation initiatives across Africa.

The Saving the Wild wine collection will be served at selected Minor Hotels properties in Africa from May 2026, including NH Hotels, Avani and Anantara properties.

The collection includes a cabernet/merlot blend, sauvignon blanc and rosé produced by Hoopenburg Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.

Each wine features fine art photography, by wildlife photographers and an environmental photojournalist, highlighting species targeted by illegal poaching. The cabernet/merlot features a rhino by William Fortescue, the sauvignon blanc an elephant by James Lewin and the rosé a pangolin by Aaron Gekoski.

According to Minor Hotels, a percentage of proceeds from the collection will support Saving the Wild’s work advocating for specialised wildlife courts and stronger legislation for endangered species.

The bottles also include QR codes linking to short films produced by Saving the Wild, including Rhino: The Endgame, featuring late Primatologist and Anthropologist Jane Goodall, and Kimana Tuskers, narrated by Actor Djimon Hounsou.

Saving the Wild Founder Jamie Joseph said legislative reform remains central to addressing wildlife crime.

“Meaningful legislative reform is critical to ending wildlife crime. The greatest challenge facing South Africa’s rhino crisis is lack of legislation that truly deters poachers and specialised courts. Most offenders receive nothing more than minor fines or weak prison sentences, which means there is little incentive for them to stop,” she said. “That’s why Saving the Wild is now focused on advocating for stronger legislation, for all endangered species and this wine collection helps us raise funds for this critical mission.”

Joseph also referenced Minor Hotels’ conservation work at Anantara Stanley & Livingstone Hotel near Victoria Falls.

“Anantara Stanley & Livingstone Hotel shows us what is possible when wildlife is truly protected. Spending time with the rangers and black rhinos on the reserve, seeing these magnificent animals move freely across the land was inspiring,” she said.

Minor Hotels Regional Director of Operations and Development for Africa Nico Vivier said the partnership aligns with the group’s sustainability focus.

“As Minor Hotels expands into more of Africa’s protected wilderness areas, we believe the protection of these ecosystems is our shared responsibility,” he said.

“Because exceptional food and beverage is central to great hospitality, we jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with Hoopenburg and Saving the Wild on an exclusive range of three wines, available across all Minor Hotels in Africa, which directly helps raise funding for vital wildlife conservation legislation.”
