Mount Ceder has launched Under Canvas Hideaway comprising three canvas-tented suites along the Grootrivier on a private farm in the 182 000 hectare Cederberg Conservancy. The suites are named after iconic constellations (Orion, Scorpius and Crux) visible due to the low light-pollution.
Each suite is 70 square kilometres with an en-suite bathroom, glass fronts, private deck and wood-fired hot tub. Rates for the Hideaways include breakfast. Lunch and dinner are available at the Old Mill Restaurant.
The new offering complements Mount Ceder’s existing six villas and three mini villas. All are offered on a self-catering basis with access to the restaurant. Leeustert House, a two-sleeper lodge, has recently been renovated.
The conservancy is home to the protected Clanwilliam cedar tree as well as the rare Cape leopard and sandfish, a threatened species found in the river. On-site activities include self-guided walks and guided hikes, mountain bike trails, olive grove tours and tastings, sundowner walks, children’s club as well as swimming and birding.
