New camp to open in Tanzania’s Tarangire National Park

Lemala Mpingo Ridge is expected to open in July in Tarangire National Park, home to large herds of elephants.

Lemala Mpingo Ridge is at the top of an escarpment with views across the Tarangire River and valley.

Accommodation comprises 15 tented suites, each with views over Tarangire. The tents feature en-suite bathrooms, private decks and outside lounges that convert into star beds at night, where guests can sleep outdoors. One of the 15 suites has two bedrooms. In addition there is an outside bathtub at each of the tents.

The main lodge incorporates a large lounge, bar, indoor and outdoor dining areas, as well as a swimming pool and spa.

Activities include morning walks and game drives; picnic breakfasts and lunches are available, as well as sundowners. The camp also offers the Lemala Cubs programme, where various children’s activities are available, such as animal and bird identification, spear throwing, bow-and-arrow making, nature walks and cooking with the camp’s chefs. These activities are offered for children up to 11 years old.

Tarangire National Park is the sixth largest national park in the country, featuring African savannah, hills, woodlands and rivers and is home to large herds of elephants, birdlife and baobab trees.
