New children’s policy at &Beyond

&Beyond has adjusted its rates for family travel so that children between the ages of six and 16, when sharing with their parents, only pay 50%, while children five years and under travel free.

“Family travel is very important to &Beyond and we are constantly looking at new ways to delight both parents and children whilst on safari with us. This new policy, together with the lodges' children’s programmes, specialised menus and, on request, a child’s personal safari kit, are all ways that show children how valued they are at &Beyond”, says Nicole Robinson, &Beyond Commercial Director.

&Beyond says family safari activities are tailor made and are highly recommended for children eight years and over who can enjoy the full adventure experience. Experienced child minders are available to look after younger children while their parents enjoy twice-daily game drives, and a range of fun adventures can be planned to keep little ones entertained.

&Beyond’s rangers and trackers are specially trained to look after children and their needs, and activities range from collecting pods, feathers, bugs and leaves, to learning how to identify different animal species. Special ‘Pooh Walks’ show children how to identify droppings and spoor, and fishing and frogging safaris (safety and weather permitting) and bark-rubbing expeditions add to the fun. &Beyond’s chefs also welcome children’s assistance in the kitchen while baking cookies for afternoon tea.

&Beyond lodges that specialise in family safaris are Phinda Mountain Lodge, Ngala Safari Lodge and Kirkman’s Kamp in South Africa; Sossusvlei Desert Lodge in Namibia; Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp in Kenya; and Ngorongoro Crater Lodge and Klein’s Camp in Tanzania.
