The new Mungo Weaving Mill at Plettenberg Bay’s historic Old Nick Village will open on November 17.
The mill will showcase the art of weaving through the centuries and also produce natural fibre homeware textiles that are proudly South African, providing employment and skills development to the local community.
Owner of Mungo Mill, Stuart Holding, says: “We are excited to bring a new form of ‘experiential retail’ to Plettenberg Bay. With the increase of mass production in the East, this is the first mill to be built and opened in South Africa in the past 40 years or more. Being open to the public is a true statement to transparency in our production.”
Plett Tourism Spokesperson, Patty Butterwort, says: “We are excited to see the growth and impact made by the historic buildings that make up Old Nick Village, in particular the impact the mill and its museum will have on the tourism industry.”
