The Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront in Cape Town has completed its refurbishment.
The multimillion-rand renovation formed the second phase of the refurbishment of guest rooms at the hotel, following the revamp of its sea-facing business-class rooms in 2008.
“The refurbishment ensures guests receive sleek, updated rooms along with the modern luxuries they have come to expect from the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group,” says Michael Rathgeb, General Manager at Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront.
“Not only do the rooms have a clean, stylish design and a more open feel but, with the use of modern technology, we have been able to drastically reduce our energy and water consumption, which we know will have a measurable and positive impact on our planet.”
Coinciding with ‘Think Planet’, a bid by the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group to go green and alleviate pressure on its carbon footprint, all new ceiling-mounted down-lighters at the hotel have LED lamps, reducing the hotel’s energy consumption by 75%. Energy-saving devices limit the use of lighting and air-conditioning to when guests are in their rooms.
In addition, new sanitary fittings have been fitted with aerators to ensure that water flow is reduced without affecting water pressure, while care was taken to use only sustainable timber during the renovation process.
