&Beyond Phinda Vlei Lodge in KwaZulu-Natal’s Phinda Private Game Reserve is undergoing a refurbishment.
Following the refurbishment, the lodge will welcome children aged 12 and older only.
The refurbishment includes the extension of the six thatched suites with enlarged bedrooms and sitting areas, new bathrooms, outdoor showers and new covered pool salas. The main guest areas are being enhanced with the addition of a new library.
Phinda Vlei Lodge will continue to offer twice-daily game drives and experiences including guided bush walks, sand forest e-biking, conservation activities supporting rhino, elephant and pangolin research and community visits.
Sustainability measures include the use of Forest Stewardship Council-certified hardwoods for flooring, decking and cladding and reduced thatch coverage to improve insulation and energy efficiency. Locally crafted timber details and woven elements will be used with interiors drawing on pine plantations, traditional weaving, beadwork and South African ceramics.
