ROYAL Orchid Hotels has purchased a 12-hectare property in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
The company plans to invest around US$25m (R171m) to further develop the property. The property will be a beach resort with a contemporary African theme, offering 150 rooms and cottages as well as a fully-fledged spa, swimming pool, lagoon and water-sports facilities.
The resort is the Bangalore-based company's first venture outside of India and is expected to be operational by 2010.
