SA, Angola lift flight restrictions

The South African and Angolan governments have agreed to remove capacity and frequency restrictions on passenger flights between the two countries.

This follows a recent visit by the South African Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille, focusing on bilateral agreements and joint tourism initiatives.

Lifting the restrictions aims to increase travel demand and accessibility between the two countries. TAAG Angola currently operates scheduled flights on the route.

“Every additional flight between our countries is an opportunity for business, for tourism and for deeper people-to-people connections,” said De Lille.

In addition to the bilateral engagements, De Lille and Marcio de Jesus Lopes Daniel, Minister of Tourism for Angola, signed the three-year Action Plan on Tourism Cooperation.

The plan aims to promote tourism opportunities through marketing campaigns, facilitating investment partnerships and supporting infrastructure development while strengthening skills development.

As part of the programme, De Lille also attended the launch of the Luanda E1 Grand Prix. She said: “Major events such as the E1 Grand Prix demonstrate the immense potential of Africa’s tourism sector. They bring global attention to our destinations, unlock investment opportunities and create shared economic value across borders, as witnessed during LIV Golf South Africa.”
