SANParks strike called off

South African National Parks (SANParks) management confirmed on August 1, that all its employees who were on strike and are members of Health and Other Service Personnel Trade Union of South Africa (Hospersa) are back at their posts.

SANParks Head of Communications, Janine Raftopoulos, welcomed the union’s decision.

“We are glad that the protected strike by some members of Hospersa has ended and those who participated are back at work.  A prolonged strike would have meant salary losses for our colleagues and more hardship in this tough economic climate. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the SANParks employees who ensured that day-to-day operations in our parks were not disrupted and thank our visitors for being patient during this period,” said Raftopoulos.
