Tourvest launches new East Africa safari brand

Tourvest Accommodation has launched Tulia, a new safari brand positioned in the mid-market segment, alongside the acquisition of the Wild Frontiers Uganda properties and activities business.

The move expands Tourvest’s East African portfolio across three brands: Lemala Camps and Lodges, Adrift and Tulia.

The Tulia portfolio now includes four properties across East Africa: Tulia Amboseli in Kenya and three Uganda properties rebranded as Tulia Buhoma, Tulia Ishasha and Tulia Murchison Falls.

The Uganda properties are located in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and near Murchison Falls.

According to Tourvest, the brand was developed in response to demand for safari products positioned between budget and luxury offerings.

“At its core, Tulia is about getting the fundamentals right,” said Tourvest Accommodation CEO Moseketsi Mpeta. “Guests want to be in the right place, with knowledgeable guides, and to be comfortable at the end of the day. That’s what we focus on without compromising on quality.”

Tourvest said the Tulia model focuses on prime wildlife locations, comfortable accommodation, guiding, locally inspired food and operational reliability.

Mpeta said the company intends to grow the brand by acquiring and improving existing properties rather than developing new camps.

“We see this as a more responsible way to grow,” Mpeta added. “It allows us to invest where it matters most: in people, in service and in the overall guest experience.”

Tourvest said the three East African brands serve different market segments with Lemala targeting the premium safari market, Adrift focusing on adventure travel and Tulia positioned as an accessible safari offering.

“Together, the three brands enable Tourvest to serve a broader range of traveller profiles without compromising the standards or values that define each offering,” said Mpeta.
